Ball & Claw Newsletter #6
Hello Ballers, (is it ok to call you that?)
It’s almost our 1 year anniversary! I quietly opened the shop doors in early August 2024, with a bunch of trusting dealers that believed in my vision (crazy) and the shop has taken off running (crazier) thanks to all of you that signed up for this newsletter!
Here is a run down of some of the events that are happening at the shop this summer/fall. There are more things in the works, but these are the definite.
July 26
Pop Up Textile Show
This Saturday, from 4 -7pm is our first ever textile event “PIECE WORK” that I am hosting with Elizabeth Winslow of Winslow Antiques. Since we normally don’t do vintage clothing and fabrics in the store, this is an exciting show, because all of us have lots of things in our trunks, bins and basements that we’ve been waiting to show and sell. We’ve invited our favorite dealers and designers to bring their best linens, fabrics, trimmings, vintage clothing, etc to the garden tent to join us. Sean Scherer of Kabinett & Kammer, Anna Corinna, Pauline Peters, James Coviello, Anna Of Good Eye House & Style (Hudson), The Ron Sharkey of Maple Lawn 1843, Barri Budin Rugs, Erika of Your Mom and The Swan, Johanna of Casanova Leather and Goods, Grace from HAG Vintage, Lisa P of Hyde nor Hare Productions and more. DJ William van Roden will be spinning great grooves, Liam will be smoking up some brisket and jack fruit for sliders, and the cava will be flowing. This is a shopping party not to be missed. All payment forms will be accepted, no early birds/sneak previews.
August 9
Flea Market
The next 2nd Saturday Flea Market at Ball & Claw is happening from 9-4. We are looking for a few more antique & vintage vendors to set up in the yard, under the big tent or bring your own tent. A great way to sell some old stuff, have some fun and try your hand at being an antiques dealer. Send me an email at Maria@ballandclawhv.com for more info.
August 23
Tugboat Festival 1 -3
Port Ewen will be auctioning off those sweet tugboat sculptures that are displayed all along Broadway. There will be a food truck, games, music and fun for the whole family. More information to come.
September 20 & 21
Taconic Antiques Fair
182 Hudson Ave, Chatham
We will be showing at this new Antique Market at the Columbia County Fairgrounds with dozens of the regions best sellers. Very excited to be a part of the inaugural show.
October 10-12
Field & Supply
Hutton Brickyard
Back for our 3rd time at this amazing event on the river in our neighborhood. More to come.
Our Friday evening ‘Happy Hour’ is on a short pause for the summer, but there will be pop ups and other special events….stay tuned. The studio is still being worked on but I and going to get it done. Soon, I promise.
Thank you for all the support of Ball & Claw, it means the world to me. I truly love what I am doing and so thrilled that I get to do it with all my favorite people: my family, staff, dealers, friends and customers. It’s the best career I’ve ever had. Thank you.
XOXOXO
Maria
PS: many thanks to Anne-Marie Mueschke Photography for documenting our most recent Second Saturday Flea. Check out more of her work here
